My favorite surprise this summer started with a simple question: my teenager asking to borrow my camera to photograph bugs. I handed over my gear immediately.
We didn’t just stick to the backyard. Over the last few weeks, ordinary weekend afternoons turned into full-blown macro safaris. I watched him from a distance, testing his patience against mosquitoes, shifting winds, and subjects that refused to sit still. He figured out fast that clouds are a photographer’s best friend and harsh midday sun is the enemy.
I knew he had a creative eye, but I wasn't prepared for the perspective he found down in the dirt. Sitting down to review the files left me in awe. Honestly? As the one who owns the equipment, I could not have nailed these shots. The detail he pulled from those tiny, hidden worlds is so cool!
I can’t wait to see what he photographs next!
Signed, One proud mum!
